Recensione ASUS VivoPC
Recensione ASUS VivoPC Part 1 - I'm testing this ASUS VivoPC form fifteen days. It's very nice, price is 199 Euros and is easy to upgrade. Let's see how it works. Here's the box, see how nice it is. it looks like an ultrabook, instead of a cheap miniPC. really refined and sturdy. I opened the seal, see what's inside. Here it is, VivoPC, this is the charger, small and nice, and then. oh, luckily there's the CD with drivers. I say "luckily" because, for now, there is not an official support page on the ASUS site for VivoPC, so it'd been a real issue looking for drivers This is a complete computer, there are also loudspeakers in here, it's all ready to be just connected and used.

It's built mostly of plastic, the aesthetic is really nice. on the front there's nothing, just the ASUS and Sonic Master logos all the outputs are on the rear. There's the switch, the SD card slot, the jack to charge, the grid for the fan (it isn't a fanless version), the button to open the case, four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0, VGA output, HDMI port, optical audio, Gigabit Ethernet -- hence 10-100-1000 Mbit/s and jacks for audio and microphone. The nice thing is you can open it. now I try, push on the rear, slide here. and the case is open. it's plastic, but it's a thick plastic. it doesn't flex, that's a good thing. Inside, see, there's the 500 GB disk, 3.5 inch, but you can also install a 2.5 GB disk to have a lighter PC. Now, there should be the chance to remove this disk.

I try here we are, you have to push it forward and it's done. There are rubber inserts on each corner, where usually are the screws, shaped to slot in. Here's my slot for the RAM, I need a small screwdriver to open it. that's the 2 GB slot SoDimm integrated, but there are two slots, for up to 16 GB, 8+8. Reassemble the whole case. Well, it's been two days from the unbox video, I've installed VivoPC, you can see it behind me, and the OS Windows 8 and Ubuntu 13. First, I want to tell you something about the placement of ports. VivoPC has all the outputs on the rear 6 USB, HDMI, VGA and so on. Sometimes it's kind of difficult using them all together.

VivoPC is very easy on the eye, but actually a little bit uncomfortable with all the outputs on the rear. I've been testing VivoPC for about 10 days, for a few hours now I'm using it as the main and only PC, connected to monitor, keyboard and mouse. so let's see how it's working. Let's start with a quick overview on the ASUS BIOS, you can use the mouse as well. Among the settings there's the chance to switch on/off the Smart Connect Technology by Intel, which is to receive notifications also when PC is stand-by mode. You can see the temperature control, see, cold it's 54°C with 2238 RPM as fan speed. You can also set many things on the boot options and so on. there are also tools to flash and upgrade on a new BIOS. Well, exit. and here's my grub.
